Chef Knife | 10Cr15CoMoV Stainless Steel | ~60 HRC | Extended Kitchen Preparation

The FireForge Chef Knife 254 mm is designed as a full-length kitchen tool for controlled slicing and large-volume food preparation. A 10Cr15CoMoV stainless steel core hardened to approximately 60 HRC provides balanced corrosion resistance, stable edge behaviour and predictable sharpening performance.

Engineering and Materials

The cutting core is manufactured from 10Cr15CoMoV stainless steel, an alloy containing chromium, molybdenum and vanadium for corrosion resistance and stable carbide formation. This composition supports reliable cutting behaviour during repeated kitchen use.

The blade is enclosed within laminated stainless outer layers forming a Damascus surface pattern.

Blade Construction

The blade follows a laminated Damascus architecture in which the hardened core steel is enclosed between multiple stainless outer layers. These layers contribute to corrosion resistance and structural stability while the cutting behaviour remains defined by the core steel.

Blade Geometry

The blade length of 254 mm provides extended reach for slicing proteins and processing larger ingredients. A spine thickness of approximately 2.4 mm and a symmetrical edge angle of around 15° per side support slicing, push cutting and moderate rocking techniques.

Handle Engineering

The handle is constructed from desert ironwood, a dense hardwood known for dimensional stability and low moisture absorption. Full tang construction with metal rivets contributes to balanced weight distribution and structural durability.

Functional Use

Designed for vegetables, fruits and boneless proteins during general kitchen preparation.

Not intended for cutting bone, frozen foods or impact chopping.

Kitchen knife hardness is measured using the Rockwell HRC scale. Higher hardness can improve edge retention, but steel composition and heat treatment also influence cutting stability and durability.
