Every FireForge knife ships in packaging built to the
same standard as the knife itself.

Standard — Laminated Hardboard Box
Rigid laminated hardboard construction with crimson
interior lining. Structured to protect the blade in
transit and present the knife without additional
wrapping. Ready to give as delivered.

Premium — Acacia Wood Box
Solid acacia wood with crimson interior lining.
Selected for its grain density and natural variation —
no two boxes are identical. A permanent case for
storage and display after the knife is in use.

The choice is yours at checkout.
Both options arrive gift-ready.

Cleaning
Hand wash with warm water and mild soap immediately
after use. Dry completely before storing.
Never place in a dishwasher — the heat and detergent
degrade both the edge and the handle material.

Storage
Use a magnetic rack, a wooden block, or the supplied
sheath. Storing loose in a drawer damages the edge
and creates a safety risk.

Sharpening
Use a Japanese whetstone. Start at 1000 grit to
restore a damaged edge, 3000–6000 grit for regular
maintenance and polish.

Maintain the original edge angle:
· 12Cr18MoV — 15–17° per side
· 10Cr15CoMoV — 15° per side
· ZDP-189 — 12–15° per side

Pull-through sharpeners and honing steels are not
recommended. They remove too much material and cannot
maintain the geometry of a thin Japanese edge.

Honing
Strop on a leather strop between sharpening sessions
to realign the edge without removing steel.
Two to three passes per side is enough.

What to avoid
· Cutting on glass, ceramic or stone surfaces
· Leaving the blade wet or in contact with acidic food
· Using the spine to scrape food from a board
· Applying lateral pressure to the blade

Description

14Cr14MoVNb powder steel core — Chinese powder metallurgy stainless steel with chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, and niobium. Niobium carbides form during solidification and are distributed uniformly through the steel matrix by the powder metallurgy process. Heat treated to 62–64 HRC. Clad in 72 layers of SUS410 martensitic stainless steel, manipulated during forging into a burst pattern across the blade flat. Spine thickness of 2.1 mm.

The powder metallurgy process distributes niobium and vanadium carbides uniformly — a structural condition that holds the 15° bevel through a full prep session without the micro-deformation that forces mid-work correction. The edge at the final cut lands with the same registration as the first. At 62–64 HRC, the core maintains this consistency across extended sessions at a level that ingot-cast alloys at equivalent composition cannot replicate. The burst pattern in the SUS410 cladding is produced by mechanically manipulating the laminate stack during forging; it is visual in character and does not alter the core's behaviour at the bevel.

Optimised for vegetables, boneless protein, fish, and herbs under push-cutting and draw-cutting technique across extended prep sessions. At 62–64 HRC, the hardness-toughness relationship is more demanding than at lower values — bone, cartilage, and frozen material carry a significantly higher chipping risk. Diamond abrasives are required for bevel maintenance; the niobium carbide content resists conventional water stones. A steel honing rod is not appropriate for this hardness or carbide structure.

Olive wood scales on a full tang, pinned with copper flower rivets. The rivets pass through the scales and the tang, mechanically securing the handle assembly to the blade; the flower pattern within each rivet is visual. Olive wood carries a fine, closed grain with natural moisture resistance that does not require surface sealing. The grain figure varies between individual pieces. At 232 g across 182 mm, the balance sits at the bolster, appropriate for a forward pinch grip at the blade heel.

The burst is in the pattern. The performance is in the core.
