Santoku Knife 183mm — Tricolour Multimetal Construction | Architectural Culinary Object
This Santoku is developed as an architectural interpretation of layered metal construction within the FireForge portfolio. It prioritises material composition, visual structure and cultural craftsmanship while remaining fully functional for controlled kitchen preparation.
It is intended for collectors and design-conscious users who value layered metallurgy as a visual and tactile experience.
Engineering and Materials
The cutting core is manufactured from 12Cr18MoV stainless steel, heat-treated to approximately 60 ±2 HRC. This steel provides stable edge behaviour and corrosion resistance suitable for regular food preparation.
Surrounding the core is a 37-layer tricolour laminated structure composed of brass, copper and 316L stainless steel. These outer materials create a controlled visual architecture while preserving the functional role of the stainless core.
Copper and brass layers may develop natural surface patina over time, contributing to the evolving character of the blade.
Manufacturing Process
Layered lamination integrates multiple metals into a unified structure before controlled heat treatment.
Hand polishing enhances contrast between materials, refining the layered composition without altering cutting geometry.
Functional Use
Suitable for:
-
Vegetables
-
Protein slicing
-
General preparation
While fully functional, this model emphasises material expression alongside performance.
