This double-sided sharpening stone is designed for controlled knife maintenance, combining edge formation and refinement in a single tool. It supports regular sharpening routines by restoring edge geometry and refining cutting performance without aggressive material removal.
Within the FireForge system, it serves as a disciplined maintenance solution for stainless steel, carbon steel, and Damascus kitchen knives.
Engineering and Materials
The stone is manufactured using white corundum (aluminium oxide) abrasive particles bonded in a resin matrix. This construction provides consistent cutting behaviour and predictable wear across both grit levels.
The #1000 surface is intended for edge correction and bevel formation, while the #6000 surface supports refinement and light polishing. The porous structure retains water effectively, reducing friction during use.
Manufacturing Process
Abrasive grains are sintered and bonded through controlled industrial processes to ensure uniform density and stable grit behaviour. The stone is finished to maintain flat, parallel faces suitable for repeatable sharpening.
Final assembly includes a non-slip rubber base and a bamboo support to improve stability and working height during use.
Functional Use
This sharpening stone is intended for routine knife maintenance in home and professional kitchens. The #1000 side is used to establish or restore an edge, followed by the #6000 side for refinement.
It is not intended as a high-speed material removal tool, nor as a substitute for specialist stones above fine polishing ranges.
